Job summary

Aerotek in Burnsville, MN is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator / General Laborer to support a busy concrete and aggregate facility. The schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6:00 AM start, typically 10-12 hour shifts and occasional Saturday work.

This role combines general labor, equipment operation, concrete testing, and plant support. You will contribute to safety, quality, and productivity while pursuing long-term career growth into leadership roles.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of outdoor construction/industrial experience.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, digging, standing, walking).
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays.
• Basic computer/data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain yard and keep areas clean and organized.
• Direct truck traffic in the yard to support safe operations.
• Assist with inventory organization and material handling.
• Perform basic concrete testing in field and plant environments.
• Support quality control by recording test data.
• Operate or be trained to operate heavy equipment (front-end loader, etc.).
• Use hand/power tools for labor tasks.
• Assist with digging, material handling, and concrete demolition using tools.
• Support daily production and plant operations.
• Complete basic data entry and documentation tasks.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
• Assist team as needed to meet goals.

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Heavy Equipment Operator / General Laborer to support daily operations at a busy concrete and aggregate facility. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable performing physical labor, and is looking to build a long-term career in the construction materials industry.

The role combines general labor, material handling, equipment operation, concrete testing, and yard support responsibilities. Candidates should be eager to learn, follow direction, and contribute to a fast-paced environment focused on safety, quality, and productivity.

Job Duties

• Perform general yard maintenance, including sweeping, cleaning, and organizing work areas.
• Direct truck traffic throughout the yard to support safe and efficient operations.
• Assist with inventory organization and material handling.
• Perform basic concrete testing in the field and plant environments.
• Support quality control efforts by collecting and recording test data.
• Operate, or train to operate, a front-end loader and other heavy equipment.
• Use hand and power tools to complete a variety of labor-related tasks.
• Perform digging, material handling, and concrete demolition using tools such as jackhammers.
• Assist with daily production and plant operations.
• Complete basic data entry and documentation tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist team members with additional duties as needed to support operational goals.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience working in construction, landscaping, excavation, concrete, aggregate, industrial, or similar outdoor environments.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as a front-end loader, skid steer, excavator, backhoe, or similar equipment preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, digging, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
• Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

Schedule

Monday through Friday 6:00 AM start time

Typical 10-12 hour shifts

Occasional Saturday work during peak season

This is a Permanent position based out of Burnsville, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
