Qualifications

Shift - Part Time, Sat - Sun, 6am - 4:30pm.

The primary function of the Yard Jockey is to serve as the primary source of trailer relocation and management within a contained facility, moving loaded trailers from drop areas to warehouse doors and empty trailers from warehouse doors to holding yards to streamline the loading and unloading process. Objectives include assisting with docking trailers, inspecting trailers and containers, performing yard checks, performing and/or ensuring that preventive maintenance is performed on machinery and tools, accurately completing necessary delivery forms and associated paperwork, and cleaning out empty trailers. General warehouse duties (to include operating sit-down forklifts or other powered material handling equipment) will be performed when not performing the primary function of the role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate all assigned equipment (trucks/trailers, forklifts, etc) safely and within company guidelines
  • Move equipment around the yard, between the yard and facilities, or between yards.
  • Promptly notifying management of required repairs or damages.
  • Store equipment securely and safely, following company requirements.
  • Conducting regular inspections of incoming and outgoing equipment.
  • Completing daily yard checks or equipment inventories.
  • Load, unload, move, stack and stage product and materials using a gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric powered MHE equipped with lifting devices
  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
  • Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars, trailers or containers.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports
  • Work closely with Warehouse Management on all loss prevention and applicable security guidelines as it relates to company requirements and USDA Food Defense guidelines.
  • Communicate timely with the Warehouse and onsite Security Guard shack on security related exceptions or issues as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Must have a Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Must be able to meet the driver requirements of the Department of Transportation.
  • 12 months of verifiable experience in the prior 36 months in a similar or greater position, with like equipment required.

Working Conditions:

This position will be exposed to warehouse working conditions, vibration, improperly illuminated or awkward and confining workspaces. Exposure to some degree of varying seasonal temperatures and outside weather conditions. Working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists. Loud noises typical.
