Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc. in Maryland seeks a Yard Jockey to move straight trucks, trailers, and yard equipment within Baldor's yard and dock areas, supporting loading, unloading, and distribution operations.

This role helps maintain on-time performance by optimizing yard flow and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Responsibilities include coordinating with Transportation and Warehouse Operations, safely maneuvering vehicles, reporting safety issues, and maintaining clear yard

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of one year driving experience.
• Experience operating FMCSA-regulated vehicles (preferred).
• Valid DOT Medical Card.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Transportation and Warehouse Operations to support loading/unloading by moving trucks to docks and parking areas.
• Safely maneuver trailers, straight trucks, and yard equipment within yard and dock spaces, including backing into tight areas.
• Perform basic vehicle inspections and report any damage, safety concerns, or maintenance issues.
• Transport vehicles to leasing locations, fueling areas, and repair shops as required.
• Maintain organized yard flow to support efficient operations.
• Follow all safety procedures, yard rules, and traffic patterns.
• Communicate with warehouse teams, transportation leadership, and dispatch to ensure smooth operations.

Brief Description

A Yard Jockey is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of straight trucks, trailers and equipment within the Baldor yard and dock areas to support warehouse, transportation, and distribution operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining on-time loading and unloading, optimizing yard flow, and ensuring compliance with Company safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate closely with Transportation and Warehouse Operations to support loading and unloading schedules by moving trucks to assigned docks and designated parking areas.
• Safely maneuver trailers, straight trucks, and yard equipment within confined yard and dock spaces, including backing vehicles into tight areas.
• Perform basic vehicle inspections and promptly report any observed damage, safety concerns, or maintenance issues.
• Transport vehicles to and from leasing locations, fueling areas, and maintenance or repair shops, as required.
• Maintain organized yard flow to support efficient warehouse and transportation operations.
• Follow all Company safety procedures, yard rules, and traffic patterns.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse teams, transportation leadership, and dispatch to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of one year driving experience.
• Experience operating FMCSA-regulated vehicles (preferred).

• Ability to follow safety procedures, yard protocols, and operational instructions accurately.
• Strong communication skills and situational awareness.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.

Schedule

• Ability to work a 6-day work schedule, based on operational needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs,
• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions without reasonable accommodation.
