Job summary

Wagner Logistics in Raphine, VA, seeks a Yard Hostler (Non-CDL) Operator to safely move trailers within loading docks, perform pre/post inspections, and support loading/unloading as needed. The shift runs Friday through Sunday, 5 AM to 5 PM, with starting pay of $20.00 per hour.

A high school diploma is preferred, and a minimum of two years’ experience is required; a valid Class E license is required, CDL (A/B/C) preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of the yard tractor, reporting defects and arranging necessary repairs.
• Safely attach drive units to trailers or containers and move them to and from dock doors for loading and unloading, ensuring dock locks and chocks are used.
• Assist warehouse personnel in the loading and unloading of trailers when required.
• Perform daily yard checks to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
• Remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or visitors on company premises.
• Maintain compliance with company safety rules and regulations.

Job description

Summary: The Yard Hostler (Non-CDL) Operator is responsible for safely operating a diesel-powered yard tractor to move and position trailers within designated loading docks and staging areas on company premises. This role involves conducting pre- and post-operation inspections of the tractor, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and assisting in the loading and unloading of trailers as necessary. The shift will work:

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, 5AM – 5PM
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing:

What You Need:

A. Education:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, and kneel.
• Navigate through narrow, confined spaces.
• Work on sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
• Exposure to varying temperatures and high noise levels.
• Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds of heavy objects.
