Job summary

Schuff Steel Company in Stockton, CA is seeking a dependable Field Tools & Equipment Associate to inspect, repair, and maintain a variety of hand tools, cords, welding leads, air hoses, ladders, and related equipment. This on-site role requires forklift operation to stage materials, load/unload trucks, and prepare orders for shipment, with daily documentation of tools and materials.

The position involves outdoor work, lifting up to 50 lbs several times per day, reading safety rules and manuals,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years experience in construction, tool repair or general labor.
• Ability to read safety rules, manuals, and procedure documents.

Responsibilities

• Process and repair damaged tools and small hand tools.
• Utilize forklift to stage materials and load/unload trucks.
• Operate shop tools including a cable winder.
• Maintain documentation for tools and materials inventory.
• Pull and prepare field orders for shipping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process and repair broken and/or damaged tools such electrical cords, welding lead, air hoses, hammers, ladders and other small hand tools.
• Utilize forklift to stage materials and tools for future use.
• Utilize forklift to load and unload trucks with tools and materials.
• Operate shop tools to include but not limited to a cable winder.
• Maintain proper documentation and record keeping as it pertains to incoming tools/materials and tools/materials that are ready to be used by the field.
• Pull orders created by the field and prepare the orders for shipping

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or Equivalent. At least two (2) years of experience in construction, tool repair or general labor environment.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must use forklift and various hand and power tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is mainly done outdoors without climate control. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs repetitively throughout an 8-10 hour days. Most of the work day will be spend standing and or walking.
