Position Overview

Yard Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the branch. Responsibilities will include overseeing the efficient and safe loading and off‑loading of trucks, organizing, and maintaining rigging and project‑related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Dispatch, Toolroom, Project Managers, and PEG regarding loading and off‑loading equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
• Communicate with Branch Dispatch and Project Managers regularly to ensure equipment required for upcoming projects is available and ready to be used.
• Maintain an organized and clean yard.
• Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date inventory of branch owned rigging and project related equipment.
• Assist with assigning project related equipment to projects in IFS Scheduling Tool.
• Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within (6) months of hire date.
• Obtain a CCO certificate within (1) year of hire date.
• Obtain appropriate forklift operations qualification card(s) within (6) months of hire date.
• Obtain Rigger qualification card within (6) months of hire date.
• Learn about equipment used for daily and project operations.
• Assist in the inspections of tractors and trailers. Document any deficiencies and report to Maintenance Manager promptly.
• Encourage, train, and assist co‑workers.
• Conduct/Verify JHAs have been conducted.
• Attend branch operations and safety meetings.
• Assist in maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic rigging knowledge is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Strong organizational and communications skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced and high‑pressure environment.
• Demonstrate ability to take initiative and lead by example.
• Prior experience in heavy construction or related industry preferred.
• Ability to pass a drug screen, Fit for Duty, and background check.
• Ability to lift, move and work around heavy equipment safely.
