Job summary

Alta Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Yard Specialist for our Williamsburg, MI branch. The role supports daily yard operations, equipment organization, inspections, assembly, and basic mechanical tasks.

Ideal candidates have experience with heavy equipment, strong attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include maintaining order, documenting check-ins/outs, and assisting shop technicians with PDIs and parts installation.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment is required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly instructions, and technical manuals.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete equipment traffic paperwork accurately and timely.
• Photograph all equipment entering and leaving the facility.
• Perform visual inspections of equipment during check-in and check-out.
• Verify operator manuals, safety equipment, and machine documentation.
• Organize and maintain the yard to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility exterior including mowing, weed whipping, and pulling weeds.
• Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and assembly instructions.
• Check inventory and verify materials needed for assembly and installation projects.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment to assemble products and equipment components.
• Assist shop technicians with mechanical work, including inspections, pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), installation of parts, and equipment preparation.
• Conduct inspections during and after assembly to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Possibility of making light deliveries.
• Perform quality assurance checks on completed products and equipment.
• Safely operate heavy equipment as required.
• Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance, including being ready for work at the designated start time.
