Job Description

As our Yard Equipment Operator, you will play a critical role in supporting Landscapers Supply’s ability to serve our customers with high efficiency. Your role is to load landscape materials (such as mulch, rock, etc.) into customer vehicles and trailers using loader equipment and by hand. You will also work with our Drivers to load our delivery trucks. Safety is key in this role working with this equipment around people and vehicles. This role is an advanced level position that requires physical outside work as well as some customer contact. You are assisted at times in the yard by a Yard Attendant. Often, you are the last person that our customer has contact with, so your friendly interaction with them will be remembered.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wheel loader and skid steer to load trucks and trailers.
• Operate a forklift to unload supplier deliveries.
• Hand load customer vehicles with landscape materials (straw, bagged mulch, etc.).
• Cleanup and maintenance in the yard.
• Check in supplier deliveries of bulk landscape materials.
• Assist with moving or loading customer vehicles with large store products such as grills or mowers.
• Ability to fill propane tanks for customers, if lawful.
• Assist with special requests from management.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to have positive and friendly interactions with customers.
• Ability to have clear communication with colleagues in person and over radio.
• Ability to work steady and safely around people and vehicles.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working with a wheel loader or other heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and handle up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
