Position Summary

The Equipment Yard Manager is responsible for the daily operations, organization, safety, and performance of the Gainesville equipment yard. This is a hands-on leadership role that ensures tools and equipment are properly tracked, maintained, and deployed to support our field teams. This position directly impacts project productivity, cost control and safety performance.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and implement equipment management strategies to optimize utilization and reduce downtime.
• Oversee equipment procurement, maintenance schedules, and repairs to ensure operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and track equipment usage across multiple job sites.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
• Coordinate with project managers to assess equipment needs and availability.
• Establish vendor relationships for equipment leasing, repairs, and procurement.
• Monitor equipment lifecycle and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
• Develop cost-effective maintenance and repair strategies to control expenses.
• Train and support field teams on proper equipment use and safety procedures.

Work Experience

• 5+ years of experience in equipment management within construction, industrial, or heavy equipment industries.
• Strong knowledge of fleet management, equipment maintenance, and logistics.
• Experience with budgeting, procurement, and vendor negotiations.
• Understanding of OSHA and safety regulations related to equipment usage.

Education/Training

• High School Diploma
• Certifications in equipment management or safety compliance are a plus.

Software & Technology

• Proficiency in fleet management software, inventory tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or ERP systems is preferred.

Work Environment

Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position. Position requires out of state air/road travel as needed and required. A clean driving record will be required due to required road travel. Current and valid driver’s license and proof of acceptable insurance is required. Work is performed in both office and field environments (outdoors). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate heavy equipment.
