Job summary

PET Dairy, a DFA farmer-owned brand, seeks a Yard Driver Non-CDL to operate yard equipment and assist with tractor-trailer movements to support loading and unloading. You will document trailer moves, perform DOT-style safety checks, and work in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• DOT certifiable and a good MVR are required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Able to perform basic math and unit conversions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of working in varied weather and fast-paced settings.
• Able to pass pre-employment screenings including drug tests.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard equipment and drive tractor trailer as needed.
• Move trailers between buildings and loading docks; document moves on move sheets.
• Perform safety inspections of trailers according to DOT regs.
• Work in all weather and adjust to rotating shift requirements.
• Maintain clean, safe, and compliant yard and equipment.

Job description

PET Dairy has an immediate job opening for a well-versed Yard Driver Non-CDL to perform any combination of operating all equipment and perform all roles as needed including driving tractor trailer with capacity of more than three tons and usually with more than six wheels to transport materials to and from specified destinations. As well as applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads, operating shuttles to move trailers from building to buildings, staging area, and from various loading dock doors, documenting all trailer moves on daily move sheets, and performing safety check inspections of trailers according to DOT regulations. Must be able to perform duties of this role in all weather conditions.

SCHEDULE:

1st Shift / Mon - Sat / Rotate 3am & 7am start - Finish / Rotating day off / Off Sundays

PAY RATE:

$21.00 per hour

• Must have DOT certifiable and a good MVR
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal
• Effective verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
• Must be able to stand, walk and climb into and out of tractor trailers virtually the entire shift
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in outdoor conditions (year round) with moderate noise
• Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays
• Must have a clean driving record
