Job summary

MedTrans, the private fleet of Medline, seeks an experienced yard hostler/tractor operator in the Katy, TX area to shuttle trailers and manage yard logistics. You will log daily activities, inspect vehicles, ensure safety features work properly, and communicate tasks via radio to keep operations efficient.

The role requires at least 1 year of tractor-trailer or commercial driving experience, a valid license, and the ability to lift up to 55 pounds while working in a warehouse and outdoor

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to operate the assigned vehicle.
• Must meet all Federal and State requirements for CMV operation.
• Must have a clean driving record with no serious violations.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds during daily work.
• Able to work in warehouse and outdoor environments with heat, cold, rain, snow, noise and dust.
• Must wear PPE such as safety shoes, dust mask, safety glasses and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

• Operate a yard tractor to shuttle trailers and containers.
• Maintain a log in accordance with regulations and company needs.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections.
• Ensure proper functioning of safety features of the vehicle and connected equipment.
• Refuel as needed.
• Communicate clearly via phone or radio.
• Complete daily yard inventory and keep the yard organized.
• Set up shipping with empty trailers and stage loaded trailers.
• Place packing lists and seals on trailers as directed.

Job Summary

MedTrans is Medline's private fleet of professional drivers that delivers lifesaving medical products directly to both commercial and residential customers. The fleet consists of newer road and yard trucks that feature newer equipment. We manage a network of over 50 distribution centers nationally and provide 1-day shipping to 95% of the United States.

Major Responsibilities

• Operate a yard tractor to shuttle trailers and containers as directed in a company designated area with tight quarters and uneven surfaces.
• Maintain a log in accordance with Federal and State regulations and company needs.
• Responsible for daily inspections of vehicle.
• Ensure proper functions of all safety related features of the vehicle and any other equipment connected to it while operating during the day.
• Refuel as needed.
• Clear communication skills for phone or radio transmission.
• Complete daily yard inventory of trailers and ensure yard is kept organized.
• Set up the shipping department with empty trailers for load out and remove loaded trailers and stage in the yard drop area.
• Place packing list and seals on trailers as assigned by shipping coordinator.

• Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Must be licensed to operate the assigned vehicle
  • Must be able to meet all Federal and State requirements for the operation of commercial motor vehicles
  • Must have a clean driving record with no serious violations
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds of weight throughout the workday
  • Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor environment which includes heat, cold, rain, snow, noise and dust
  • Must use Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., safety shoes, dust mask, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
  • Must be able to work in elevated places and tight, small spaces
  • Must be able to work at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and available for overtime as required to meet business needs within the appropriate State and Federal regulations
  • Must maintain a clean presentation of the driver and vehicle
  • Must have superb driving skills and ability to back up trailers in particular

Salary

The anticipated salary range for this position: $21.25 - $30.75 Hourly. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
