Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Class A CDL with 2 years of driving experience.
• Minimum of six months related experience or training in a distribution environment.
• Must pass DOT physical, drug screen and background check.
• Willing to work in inclement weather as needed.
• No accidents and no more than two minor moving violations in the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Back trailers into dock/yard spaces safely, engage dock locks, chocks, and deploy trailer stands.
• Park and organize trailers in the warehouse yard.
• Mount/dismount yard spotter; slide trailer tandems as needed.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractor and complete DVIRs.
• Use YMS or applicable tools to coordinate inbound/outbound trailer movements.
• Operate a forklift to move shipments between trailer movements.
• Coordinate trailer movements with the office clerk to minimize downtime.
• Report unsafe conditions, injuries or damages to management.
• Follow company policy and required trainings; keep equipment clean.

May also be required to operate a forklift to move products or shipments.FunctionsSafely backs various size trailers into assigned dock/yard spaces, engages dock locks, and/or chocks, and deploys trailer stands for all trailers spotted to the dock.Parks and organizes trailers on the warehouse yard.Mount and dismount the yard spotter frequently and slide trailer tandems alonePerforms daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractor and fill out DVIR’sUtilizes YMS (or applicable tools) to make inbound and outbound trailer movements.Assist the refueling of yard tractorsOperate forklift to move shipments between trailer movements.Coordinates with office clerk on trailer movements.
