Job summary

NewCold in Indiana is seeking a dependable yard spotter/tractor trailer operator to move and position trailers for loading and unloading. You will ensure safe equipment movement around the yard and dock, comply with DOT regulations, and strive to meet customer performance standards.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, performing light maintenance, coordinating with the maintenance team, loading and unloading trucks and containers, keeping the yard neat, and supporting flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience as a yard spotter or in semi-truck operations.
• Ability to perform DOT pre-trip inspections.
• Familiar with yard management systems.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor trailers and load/unload products safely.
• Maintain and inspect equipment daily.
• Coordinate with maintenance and perform light repairs.
• Ensure DOT compliance and safety.
• Support yard operations and housekeeping.
• Flexibility for varying shifts.

Job description

• The primary function of this position is to maneuver tractor trailers for the purpose of loading and unloading products while providing safety and security for the division yard and dock area. It is further required that above function be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  

This will be done by:

• Maintain and maneuver equipment on yard prior to dispatch.
• Ensure the safe movement of equipment around yard and warehouse.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours.
• Maintain equipment while on site.
• Drop and hook tractor to trailer.
• Inspects truck for defects, before and after trips and submits reports indicating truck condition.
• Coordinate equipment for maintenance and repair (must be able to perform light maintenance.
• Must be able to perform a DOT Pre-Trip inspection on Trailers
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the proper execution of the logistics activities and the monitoring of the yard management on the site.
• Control of product flow for the yard management system.
• Implement remedial actions to maintain the flow of product.
• Autonomous action to prevent accidents.
• Act in line with agreed procedures for ensuring quality of product is maintained at all times in line with customer requirements (temperature, damages etc).
• Assisting the operation as required by the site, including:
• Loading and Unloading Trucks & Containers.
• Assist colleagues in carrying out tasks.
• Helping maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
• Continually look to opportunities for improvements.
