Job summary

Producers Dairy Foods in Fresno, CA is seeking a Yard Attendant to direct and coordinate trailer movements in the yard, reporting to the Transportation Manager. You will manage high volumes of trailers in tight spaces while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, 18+ months of commercial driving, a valid Class A licence with ≤2 points, and knowledge of DOT rules.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Yard Attendant to join our winning team at our Fresno, CA location. Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Yard Attendant will be responsible for direction and coordination of trailer movement throughout the yard. The Yard Attendant must be able to move high volumes of trailers safely and quickly in tight and confined spaces in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Approach work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, and engaging in Producers Dairy Mission
• Own and promote a Safety Culture by ensuring a safe work environment and promoting proper safety behavior.
• Plan and assign equipment according to loadout matric and availability.
• Understand equipment availability according to classification and weights of equipment.
• Understand the use of trailer refrigeration units. Understand basics of food safety and documentation of trailer temperatures.
• Effective communication between multiple departments for different departments to perform different actions on trailers. Must be able to understand what needs to be done next.
• Monitor of fuel levels and trailer inventory.
• Communicate and have proper etiquette on company radios.
• Monitor and report any equipment or product out of specifications.
• Movement of equipment with multiple types of vehicles and understanding of how to use equipment; 2-axle straight trucks, 3-axle tractors, multiple size trailers and tankers.
• Will not operate equipment outside of company property if not licensed to operate.
• Movement of company equipment between multiple parking facilities outside of company property.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

To be a successful Transportation Driver you will need

• A high school diploma or GED
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must have a minimum of 18-months of commercial driving experience
• Must have valid Class A driver license with no more than 2 points
• Knowledge, comprehension, and compliance with DOT rules/regulations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multitasking
• Strong ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with all levels of employees.
• Demonstrate the ability to solve problems, accept constructive feedback and show flexibility should priorities and/or deadlines change
• Must have the ability to use a phone application for: mapping, work submissions, tracking, timekeeping ad electronic logs
