Job summary

Tempe Union High School District seeks a Yaqui Language Teacher to develop and implement a comprehensive Yaqui language curriculum for K-12 students. The role includes designing instructional materials and delivering Yaqui language classes, with collaboration across instructors to set standards and assessments.

The incumbent will record student progress, assist with college-level Yaqui coursework, and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, American Indian Studies or a closely related field.
Three years of speaking the Yaqui language fluently.
Possession of a Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver classroom lesson plans and activities for K-12 Yaqui language learning.
Develop and implement a Yaqui language curriculum for Tempe Union High School District students and other audiences.
Collaborate with other language instructors to create standards, units, and assessments.
Create Yaqui language and cultural resource materials for classrooms and presentations.
Incorporate culturally relevant instructional methods for K-12 Yaqui language instruction.
Assist in development of pre- and post-language assessments and analyze data.
Record and communicate student progress in Yaqui language acquisition.
Attend prescribed language instruction sessions and participate in professional development.
Maintain organization of curricular materials, handouts, schedules, and equipment.
