Job description

Overview

Assists the Head Men’s and Women’s Squash Coach in formulating, teaching, and coaching technical aspects of game preparation and strategy for a Division I intercollegiate athletic program. Supports competitions, practice, administrative duties, alumni relations, and the student‑athlete recruitment process.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the planning, organizing and execution of preseason and season practices and contests.
• Evaluates the athletes’ performance and progress to ensure peak performance during practices and contests.
• Oversees the mental and physical preparation of athletes for contests; assists in the development of conditioning programs.
• Scout and evaluates opponents’ performance and recommends game strategy.
• Oversees the recruitment of prospective student athletes; evaluates prospective students’ athletic and academic abilities and presents the Head Coach with recruits for final selection.
• Participates in planning for alumni events including fundraising or other special functions.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices; ability to work in a diverse environment and establish effective relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and alumni.
• Ability to organize and manage all facets of the program including recruiting, scouting, individual instruction, budget planning, monitoring academic progress, and day‑to‑day operations.
• Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with student‑athletes, coaches, and athletic and university administration. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; travel required.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and one year of collegiate coaching experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League regulations.

Required Licenses or Certifications

Professional certification in water safety, advanced life‑saving, health services, first aid, CPR, or other areas may be required for some positions.
