Position Summary

TheY-Kids Program Leaderis a vital role within the Stonestown Family YMCA, dedicated to creating an engaging, safe, and enriching environment for children aged 12 weeks to 12 years. The primary focus of this role is to design and deliver exceptional, interactive program activities that are thoughtfully crafted to engage, inspire, and support the development of children. These activities are carefully tailored to promote creativity, learning, and social interaction, ensuring a positive and enriching experience that meets the highest standards of quality and aligns with the program’s mission to nurture each child’s potential.

TheY-Kids Program Leaderrole involves building meaningful and supportive relationships with program participants, their families, and branch members to foster a sense of community and trust. TheY-Kids Program Leaderupholds the organization’s values by modeling integrity, responsibility, and respect, creating a welcoming environment that encourages positive behavior and personal growth.

  • Facility & Safety Management
    • Arrive on time for shifts.
    • Set up and break down the space appropriately for use, ensuring all items are stored in designated areas.
    • Maintain a safe environment at all times.
    • Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management.
  • Child & Parent Engagement
    • Greet parents and children upon arrival and learn their names.
    • Introduce yourself to new and prospective members and provide information about the Y-Kids Program and other Youth Programs.
    • Treat all children equally, ensuring fairness and inclusivity.
    • Acknowledge parents during pickup, inform them of any important details, and ensure proper check-out procedures.
  • Program & Community Engagement
    • Promote YMCA HEPA standards by encouraging children to eat snacks together as a community.
    • Participate in site, department, branch, and association events.
  • Child Supervision & Care
    • Change diapers and accompany children to the bathroom as needed.
    • Provide attentive care and supervision to all children throughout the program.
  • Professional Development & Teamwork
    • Respond positively to directions and accept constructive criticism from supervisors.
    • Attending staff meetings and required training sessions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 16 years old
  • Available to work mornings, afternoons, and/or some weekends
  • Experience working with youth
  • Ability to work independently
  • Creativity, good judgment, adaptability
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills/customer service skills
  • Must complete all trainings and certifications – CPR/AED, Child Abuse Prevention, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens – within 30 days of hire.
  • Fingerprint background check clearance; authorized work permit if under 18
Preferred Qualifications
  • 18 years or older
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or other languages
Work Environment and Physical demands

As a Y-kids Program Leader, you will be working in a dynamic and energetic environment, primarily at local elementary and middle school sites. The role involves a combination of indoor and outdoor activities, including leading classroom sessions and supervising recreational activities in school yards. You will be engaging with students in a hands-on, interactive setting, facilitating both academic and physical development.

The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in outdoor games and activities for extended periods. You may need to lift or carry light equipment (up to 20 lbs) used during the program.

Salary Description

The Y-kids Program Leader position offers a competitive hourly rate of$18.67 to $19.50 per hour,based on qualifications, experience, benchmark standards, and in accordance with grant funding requirements.
