Job Description

Y-Haven provides temporary housing and drug and alcohol treatment to adults in Cuyahoga County who are most in need. Formed in 1993 by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Y-Haven has helped thousands recover from addiction, secure permanent housing, and re-build their lives. Y-Haven offers healing and hope.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing restrooms & locker rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, trash pickup and removal, spill cleanup, floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y.
2. Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products.
3. In charge of vacuuming equipment; vacuums and cleans carpets, performs further treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed.
4. Ensure all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies are followed as directed.
5. Responsible for ensuring proper supply levels are maintained, as well as reporting all inventory and/or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
6. Interact with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.
7. Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.
8. Assist and/or perform projects of a special nature.
9. Must be able to read, and write legibly and in an understandable manner.
10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

1. High School diploma preferred.

Experience:

1. Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.

Certification(s) & Requirements:

1. Any Janitorial, Custodial or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.
2. CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
3. Must be 18 years of age.

1. Must be able to effectively communicate with members and YMCA staff.
2. Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
3. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

7. Must be able to read and understand cleaning product and equipment instructions and apply them effectively.

10. Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department(s).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Must be able to move and lift 50-75 lbs.
2. Must be willing and able to climb a ladder.
3. A frequent amount of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.
2. May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather.
