What you’ll do

The X‑Ray Technologist is responsible for operating X‑ray and fluoroscopic equipment that assists radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures.
• Protect patients, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
• Takes X‑rays following established procedures for patient care and safety; set up and operate radiographic equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment, including infection control procedures.
• Select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
• Adjust and set radiographic controls.
• Position patients and take X‑rays of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians; check image clarity and retake when necessary; distribute images to appropriate medical staff.
• Maintain required records including patient records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports.
• Perform quantity and quality control checks to assure X‑ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
• Comply with safety standards.
• Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to equipment; determine repairs needed.
• Maintain radiographic supplies and order as necessary.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in radiological technology from an accredited X‑ray technology program.
• One to three years of experience as an X‑ray technologist, preferably in a medical practice environment.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration preferred.
• X‑Ray Technician License of Rhode Island.
