Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Visualization Research and Development Engineer to join the Advanced Visualization Department at ARL. You will design experiences, APIs, and 3D data visualizations for sponsors, deploying to VR/AR platforms and guiding projects across domains.

You will also draft technical docs and proposals for sponsors, with senior roles including leadership of hardware/software prototyping and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science; 5+ years of relevant experience for senior roles.
• Master's degree preferred; active security clearance or eligibility is a plus.
• Proficient in C#, Python, or Java; experience with XR/VR/AR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design experiences and interactions to support collaboration for sponsors.
• Design and implement APIs to pass data between software applications.
• Develop methodologies for integrating 3D data using game-engine frameworks.
• Create tool workflows and visual communication methods for complex concepts.
• Deploy solutions to VR/AR platforms and integrate with synthetic environments.
• Perform systems engineering to improve data flows and processes.
• Brief sponsors on technical solutions and draft associated documentation.
• Draft whitepapers and proposals for sponsors.
