Job summary

The X-Ray Tech II at Trinity Health Of New England provides radiographic services including general radiography and mammography, positioning patients and shielding to obtain diagnostic images according to radiologist specifications.

The role supports a wide age range, maintains equipment quality checks, educates patients, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team in a patient-centered, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Science or equivalent required, plus graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program.
• ARRT registration and current State radiography license (and mammography license) required.
• Minimum two years of clinical internship and two years post-education experience as Radiologic Technologist.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs general radiography and mammography with proper patient positioning and shield use.
• Performs clerical tasks such as retrieving films, scheduling, and documentation.
• Educates patients and family members about care in an understandable way.
• Conducts quality checks on radiography equipment to ensure high-quality images with minimal radiation.

Description:

Position Purpose

The X-Ray Tech II is responsible for operating radiographic equipment as required, to obtain diagnostic exams according to radiologist specifications. This position will assist the radiologist in a wide range of sterile procedures and is responsible for the care and treatment of all age ranges of patients, to include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

What you will do:

• Performs general radiography and mammography. Properly positions patients to obtain desired diagnostic results, places protective lead shields on patients, and sets correct technical exposure.
• Performs a variety of related clerical tasks such as retrieving previous films, filing, answering phones, relaying messages, completing encounter forms and scheduling.
• Educate patients and family members so that they have a transparent understanding of the care being provided.
• Performs quality checks on equipment in accordance with department procedure. Produces the highest quality radiographs and digital images with the lowest practical dose of radiation in accordance with procedure ordered.
• Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Associate’s degree in Science or equivalent post-secondary education required. Must be a graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program.
• Licensure: A.R.R.T. registered and current State license in radiography and mammography.
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical internship and two (2) years of post-educational experience as a Radiologic Technologist. Requires a strong working knowledge of radiographic equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Certification: CPR certification
