Job summary

UPMC in Pittsburgh seeks a Diagnostic Technologist Specialist to apply imaging expertise in a team-focused environment dedicated to precision and patient care. The role offers a predictable 8:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule with no routine on-call responsibilities, limited weekend work, and one holiday commitment per year.

Required: ARRT Radiography certification, 3 years of diagnostic X-ray experience, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certified in Radiography.
  • CPR or BLS required (per AHA standards).
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
  • Graduate of ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • 3 years Diagnostic X-ray experience.
  • Must have strong performance rating for promotion eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with accreditation responsibilities.
  • Lead QA program and update protocols alongside lead technologists; trains staff on new equipment.
  • Serve as a technical resource to technologists and assist with continuing education needs; participates in staff performance reviews.
  • Lead training on new techniques and protocols for research studies; collaborates with radiologists and researchers to identify new techniques and problem solving resolutions.
  • Create and implement new training programs; assist with startup of new offsite locations; communicate with attending physicians, co-workers and patients.
  • Performs all job responsibilities of the Diagnostic Tech I and Advanced Diagnostic Tech II.
  • Attends advanced training sessions to maintain industry standards in imaging techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with accreditation responsibilities.
  • Responsible for tech quality assurance program and the reviewing and updating of protocols alongside of or in place of the lead technologists. Assumes leadership role in training staff on new equipment
  • Serves as a technical resource to technologists on a daily operational basis. Assist technologist with continuing education needs and participates as a peer delegate in staff annual performance reviews.
  • Leads training on new techniques and protocols for research studies and collaborates with radiologists and researchers where applicable to identify new techniques and problem solving resolutions.
  • Creates and implements new training programs, where applicable, and assists with the startup of new offsite locations. Responsibilities for new locations include, but are not limited to, working on reporting systems, obtaining appropriate images and effectively communicating with attending physicians as well as co-workers and patients
  • Performs all job responsibilities of the Diagnostic Tech I and Advanced Diagnostic Tech II.
  • Attends advanced training sessions and seminars in order to maintain industry standards in imaging techniques and disseminates information to imaging departmental leadership and as a part of new hire orientation.
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • 3 years Diagnostic experience required.
  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

ARRT certified in Radiography. CPR or BLS Required.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
