Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care & Occupational Health in Ohio seeks an X-Ray Technologist to perform radiologic exams, ensuring patient safety and proper film handling. The role includes registration duties and cross-training in Medical Assistant tasks.

The position supports shifts at Euclid and Mentor on the Lake clinics, with RT and MA duties, patient flow optimization, and collaboration with the care team. CPR certification and EMR familiarity are required.

Qualifications

  • RT or GXMO certification required.
  • 1-2 years clinic experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Basic computer skills including EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Operate X-Ray equipment to take radiographs as directed by the APP or Physician.
  • Ensure radiology equipment is functioning and report malfunctions.
  • Log radiologic procedures and complete related paperwork.
  • Take patient history and record vital signs.
  • Perform basic testing or screenings (vision, hearing, urine tests, EKGs, PFT).
  • Perform phlebotomy for lab specimens.
  • Complete documentation for lab tests and procedures.
  • Assist with injections and record-keeping per policy.
  • Support point-of-care testing (strep, flu, pregnancy tests, urinalysis).
  • Dispense and document medications and treatments.
  • Maintain sterile technique and proper autoclave use.
  • Coordinate records for ancillary care and referrals.
  • Assist providers with exams and testing.

Job description

The X-Ray Technologist performs radiologic exams, following established procedures for patient care and safety.

Performs all the duties related to proper film identification, storage, and reporting functions.

Perform registration duties.

This position will require shifts at both Euclid and Mentor on the Lake clinics and both RT and Medical Assistant duties

Responsibilities
  • Operate X-Ray equipment to take radiographic films of designated portions of the body as directed by the APP or Physician
  • Ensures radiology equipment is functioning appropriately and reports equipment malfunctions to manager
  • Logs radiologic procedures
  • Responsible for taking patient history and obtain vital signs
  • Perform basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing
  • Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples
  • Accurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples
  • Able to perform subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately complete paperwork according to policy for that procedure
  • Perform point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levels
  • Dispense and document medications and other treatment modalities
  • Insure sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave
  • Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patients
  • Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D's and splinting/ ortho-glass preparation
  • Perform occupational medicine testing such as: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicals
  • Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA)
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to manager
  • Logs laboratory procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed
  • Responsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist's referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient's education
  • Maintains examination rooms, sterilization of equipment and stocks necessary medical supplies
  • Performs duties to ensure good patient flow
  • Registration duties: explain to patients' accepted insurances and those out of network and knowledgeable of all pricing. Properly collect and record payments, complete registration screen in a timely manner
  • Travel to care centers within designated region
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information
  • Cleans and stocks the site with other members of the team

Requirements
  • Radiology Technician (RT) or General X-Ray Machine Operator (GXMO) certification required
  • 1-2 years previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferred
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Ability to function independently without close supervision, and to consistently exercise discretion and the highest level of good clinical and other professional judgment
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR certification
