Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Radiologic Technologist at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA. The role involves performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, patient positioning, and collaboration with radiologists.

Qualifications

  • CPR certification is required.
  • ARRT certification must be obtained within the time frame stated by Penn Medicine.
  • General driver''s license may be required depending on position assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures with proper patient positioning and radiation protection.
  • Receives requests, checks for special instructions from physicians, and consults with Radiologists as needed.
  • Greets patients, confirms identifications, and explains procedures to patient and family.
  • Operates hospital computer systems and documents in the EMR.
  • Completes examination, billing procedures, and follows Universal Protocol.
  • Maintains equipment, conducts quality control, and reports conditions to leadership.
  • May require travel to various site locations and participates in on-call responsibilities.
  • Performs Point of Care testing and reports results per Lab standards.

LOCATION: Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA

SIGN-ON BONUS: Up to $5000.00 (prorated based on hours worked per week) with a 2-year commitment for internal and external eligible candidates only.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

Full time (40 hours per week), night shift
  • Hours are from 10:30p-7:00a,
  • Up to 5 rotating on-call shifts per month from 7am-10am
  • Every other weekend from 7am-3pm
  • Up to 3 holidays per year
  • 1 hour response time
Full time (36 hours per week), night shift
  • Hours are from 10:30p-7:00a
  • Up to 5 rotating on-call shifts per month from 7am-10am

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs all routine diagnostic radiographic procedures through proper patient positioning, technique selection, application of immobilization and radiation protection devices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs all routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures through patient positioning, technique selection, administration of contrast media and application of immobilization and radiation protection devices as established by LG protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Receives requests, checking for special instructions from the requesting physicians. Consults with Radiologists as necessary.
  • Greets patients--confirming their identifications performing the correct procedures as directed and completely explaining the procedure to patient and family as directed.
  • Operates and enters information through the hospital computer system. Documents required information and patient history in the electronic medical record. Documents other information as required.
  • Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs Universal Protocol and other paperwork as applicable.
  • Accurately and appropriately utilizes all computer related equipment, such as the electronic health record, email and the intranet.
  • May require travel to various site locations.
  • Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Completes warm-up procedures for each radiographic room/equipment as assigned. Records quality control activities. Reports equipment conditions to immediate leadership or appropriate personnel.
  • Compliance with OSHA and other mandated safety procedures or regulations.
  • Maintains necessary inventory supplies for assigned workstation, rotating stock in an orderly fashion and eliminating outdated items.
  • Participates in the clinical education of Radiology students as required.
  • Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
  • Perform patient and control testing on unit-specific Point of Care testing, according to Lab regulatory standards. Report results and findings to the Licensed Care worker.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an AMA approved Radiological Technology School
  • Certification in Radiological Technology, issued by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists: within eighteen (18) months of placement in position if hired/placed prior to 1/01/2024; within twelve (12) months of placement in position if hired/placed as of January 1, 2024.
  • CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license may be required (based upon position assignment)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two years of clinical experience beyond training
