Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a X-Ray Technologist FGP (Float).
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains supplies and cleanliness of space, restocks supplies as needed. Notifies supervisor of any shortage of supplies.
- Assists section in completion of special projects, reports, and activities.
- Maintains cooperative and professional relationships with patients, physicians, nurses, and office and clinical staff.
- Demonstrates skill in equipment setup, utilization, and proper maintenance procedures. Performs visual and manual quality control checks of X-ray equipment, including monitors used for routine dictation/reading of clinical images. Uses imaging and peripheral equipment safely and productively, following hospital, departmental, and manufacturer procedures. Reports any malfunctioning of equipment and notifies appropriate personnel.
- Recognizes medical emergencies and notifies nurse, PA, or MD immediately. Follows proper radiation safety procedures, uses gonadal shielding, restricts beam to the smallest possible area, and maintains radiation detection badges appropriately.
- Understands image processing software, performs segmentation and analysis, generates reports, and transmits images to PACS and EMR.
- Generates high-quality hard copies of images when necessary. Completes examinations efficiently, maintains radiographic area cleanliness, and prepares equipment and supplies for future exams. Adjusts work schedule for STAT and emergency cases and modifies work patterns as needed.
- Follows special instructions on radiographic requisitions.
- Implements patient procedures independently according to protocols. Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, provides comfort, maintains privacy, and positions patients and equipment correctly. Uses lead markers and ensures high-quality x-rays, employing positioning devices and appropriate protocols.
- Identifies patients correctly using two identifiers, checks wristbands, introduces self, reviews requisitions, and consults with medical staff when needed. Follows all radiologic procedures and safety precautions.
- Assesses patient information and status effectively. Demonstrates knowledge of HIS and RIS systems, schedules and modifies exams, documents times, and maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology, New York State license or temporary permit, and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). High School diploma or equivalent.

ARRT Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
College graduate.
