Responsibilities
- Obtain quality x-rays using correct positioning and radiation exposure.
- Implement safety procedures for patients, staff, and self to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Create and document x-ray CD copies according to Patient First guidelines, labeling images and sleeves correctly.
- Understand the operation of x-ray and processing equipment for proper use.
- Use and understand the bell system.
- File and maintain all x-ray paperwork.
- Ensure patient safety when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment.
- Use systems like Daily Log, X-Ray Listing, Copy Listing, and X-Ray Status Screen effectively.
- Utilize the automated medical records system.
- Clean work area and perform biological cleanup following OSHA guidelines.
- Receive, move, and restock supplies.
- Adhere to Patient First policies and procedures.
- Respond promptly and respectfully to physician and nurse requests.
- Complete checklists for the x-ray and treatment areas.
- Attend scheduled training and staff meetings.
- Be available as needed, understanding that breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted for patient care.
- Operate, use, and maintain medical and office equipment as trained.
Minimum Education and Professional Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Keyboarding experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- One year of clerical experience preferred.
- One year of clinical experience preferred.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Licensed as a Radiologic Technologist or Limited Radiologic Technologist by the Virginia Board of Health Professions.
- Limited Radiologic Technologist must be licensed in specific anatomical areas.
