Job summary

UP Health System Bell is seeking an X-ray Technician III with mammography expertise to join our radiology team. The role supports breast imaging, CT, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine procedures in a busy hospital setting.

The position is unionized, 0.8 FTE (32 hours/week) with varied shifts, on-call and weekend rotation. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA approved school of radiological technology.
  • ARRT Registered or eligible.
  • Certification in Ultrasound, CT, Mammography, and Dexascan.
  • Additional Training in Nuclear Medicine preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mammography exams in accordance with department protocols and procedures and within National Standard time frames.
  • Performs mammography quality control and quality assurance functions.
  • Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patients are comfortable.
  • Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
  • Operates radiology equipment to perform clinical diagnostic radiology exams and routine invasive procedures.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.
  • Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.
  • Follows established policies and procedures, safety standards, and confidentiality.
  • Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.
  • Performs all general radiography procedures including development of films and preparation of contrast media.
  • Performs nuclear medicine procedures in compliance with NRC regulations.
  • Performs QA protocols for equipment and radionuclides.
  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
  • Performs CT examinations and CT quality control.
  • Orients patients to procedure, obtains patient history and verifies informed consent.
  • Transports patients to and from department.

How you'll contribute

An Xray Technician IIIwho excels in this role:

  • Performs mammography exams in accordance with department protocols and procedures and within National Standard

  • Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.

  • Performs all general radiography procedures associated with the department, including development of films and preparation of contrast media, as appropriate.

  • Performs nuclear medicine procedures in compliance with departmental procedures and in compliance with all regulations of the National Regulatory Agency associated with NRC.

  • Performs all quality assurance protocols associated with equipment and radionuclides.

  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with department protocols and procedures and within

  • Performs CT examinations in accordance with departmental procedures within National Standard Time frames.

  • Performs CT quality control and quality assurance functions required for CT examinations.

  • Orients patients to procedure, obtains patient history and verifies that informed consent is signed.

  • Transports patients to and from department.

What we're looking for:
  • Graduate of AMA approved school of radiological technology.

  • Required: ARRT Registered or eligible. Primary Source Verification: American Registry for Radiologic Technologists.

  • Certification in Ultrasound, CT, Mammography, and Dexascan.

  • Additional Training in Nuclear Medicine preferred

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
