Objectives of this role
The X‑Ray technician's role is to provide optimal care in a patient-centered environment and to provide subspecialty expertise. Provide top-quality imaging and therapeutic procedures. Assist in the role as a medical assistant when X‑ray technician duties are slow.
Responsibilities
- Verifying client identity and reviewing medical staff's orders before beginning x‑ray procedures.
- Providing verbal and/or written instruction.
- Correctly positioning the client in positioning body parts to be radiographed, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
- Adjusting the imaging equipment to the specified position.
- Ensuring that the x‑rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures.
- Explaining procedures and observing patients to ensure patient care, safety, and comfort during the scan.
- Preventing unnecessary radiation exposure to themselves and to the client.
- Following correct techniques and procedures such as client shielding.
- Maintaining radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs, and placing orders or informing Clinic Manager.
- Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x‑ray equipment.
- Maintaining an accurate record of completed x‑ray procedures.
- Adhering to ethical standards of conduct as well as applicable state and federal laws.
- Logging into the appropriate radiology site and labeling exams accordingly.
- Matching any completed reports with the appropriate chart and placing them in the appropriate location.
- At the end of each day, comparing logs with Synapse to ensure all x‑rays have been sent and highlighted.
- Wiping down all x‑ray equipment and cleaning films.
- May be required to work at other PRIME clinics and on‑site locations.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Preparing patients for examinations.

- Must have the ability to take a one-week call on a rotating basis.
- May be required to work overtime and holidays.
- Dependable transportation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Required city, state or federal license and/or certification.
- Proven experience as an X‑ray technician.
- Experience taking x‑rays of various body parts.

Physical Demands
Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects up to 125 pounds; repetitive motion; extensive use of computers, x‑ray machines, and keyboards; substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; close visual acuity for activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; operating x‑ray machines; and driving to other sites and PRIME clinics to deliver and pick up materials.
