Job summary

Gila Regional Medical Center is seeking a CT Tech/Radiology Tech to perform radiology and CT procedures and provide diagnostic evaluations.

The role includes patient assessment, records maintenance, and enforcing radiation safety. Experience in CT and Radiology is preferred, with teaching duties for students and new staff. This is an on-site position in Silver City, NM.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification is required for CT/Radiology practice.
• NM State license is required to work in New Mexico.
• AHA BLS certification within 3 months of hire is required or expected.

Responsibilities

• Performs CT and Radiology procedures and diagnostic evaluations.
• Assesses patient needs related to CT or Radiology procedures.
• Stocks rooms with supplies and maintains an orderly area.
• Maintains records for safety, quality control, and diagnostic accuracy.
• Uses radiation protection measures (time, collimation, shielding).
• Follows pain management policies and restraints when needed.
• Demonstrates knowledge of PACS and MediTech systems.
• Provides clinical instruction to students and precepts new techs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The CT Tech/Radiology Tech is responsible for performing radiology and CT procedures and diagnostic evaluations of patients. S/he provides clinical instruction to students, follows pain management protocols, and maintains adequate records and supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs CT and Radiology procedures and diagnostic evaluations of patient, which include a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed exposure parameters for CT or Radiology procedures according to patient age, mental, and physical status.
• Assesses patient needs relevant to CT or Radiology procedures.
• Stocks rooms with adequate supplies and maintains an orderly working area.
• Maintains adequate records as directed to ensure safety, proper care of patients, and diagnostic quality of CT or Radiology examinations. Maintains records and performs Quality Assurance/ Quality Control checks as needed.
• Consistently uses radiation protection measures such as time, collimation, and shielding.
• Follows hospital policy regarding pain management and use of restraints for patients.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of the PACS and MediTech systems.
• Provides clinical instruction to students, and precepts new techs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• Current ARRT certification
• Current NM State license
• AHA BLS certification within 3 months of hire
• One year Radiology experience required
• One year CT Tech experience preferred
• Willingness to cross train in other modalities highly preferred
• Computer proficiency required
