Job summary

OU Health in Oklahoma City is seeking a CT Technologist PRN to perform routine and complex CT examinations, applying established protocols while adapting techniques based on patient condition and diagnostic requirements.

You will prepare patients, administer contrast per protocol, transfer images to EMR/PACS, document studies, and participate in quality control, safety, and continuing education as part of a collaborative imaging team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARRT-recognized imaging program or JRCERT military program accepted.
• At least 1 year CT experience required.
• Current BLS and ARRT(RT)(CT) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range of CT exams with protocol adjustments based on patient condition and indications.
• Prepare patients and correlate clinical history with orders to support proper imaging.
• Safely administer contrast per protocol.
• Transfer images to EMR/PACS and document studies accurately.
• Maintain operator-level quality control and basic equipment maintenance per instructions.

General Description

The CT Technologist PRN independently performs routine and complex CT examinations, applying established protocols while exercising sound clinical judgment to adapt techniques based on patient condition and diagnostic requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Utilizes core knowledge and skills to function as a competent, independent technologist, performing a full range of CT exams and adjusting protocols based on patient condition and clinical indication to deliver safe, high quality, and efficient patient-centered care in routine and emergent settings.
• Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician-ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.
• Safely administers contrast per protocol.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.
• Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.
• Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
• Carrying out operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Accurately document in EMR/PACS.
• Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.
• Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.

General Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.

Experience: At least 1 year of CT experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required. ARRT(RT)(CT) certification is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Solid knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, CT imaging principles, and radiologic terminology. Applies core level primary specialty theory and techniques to independently perform CT exams, complete postprocessing and image analysis, and accurately annotate study data and procedure documentation with minimal guidance.
• Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and nonclinical work assignments with limited direction.
• Communicates effectively through verbal and written means to convey accurate, timely information and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and nonclinical work assignments with limited direction, applying sound judgment to manage workload, competing priorities, and changing demands.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in stressful situations, independently adjusting priorities and maintaining focus in fast paced or changing environments.
