Job summary

Greenville Utilities Commission seeks a WWTP Maintenance Mechanic I/II/III to perform maintenance at the wastewater treatment plant and related facilities. Candidates should troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems and use a Work Order System.

Roles span I–III with corresponding salary ranges and anticipated salaries. Typical schedules Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday with rotating standby; safety-sensitive with drug screening requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot faulty mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, blowers, mixers and related equipment at a wastewater treatment system.
  • Proficiency with Work Order System.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in overhauls, installations, repairs, and maintenance of pumps, motors, deep wells, lift stations, storage tanks, and other related equipment for the WWTP
  • Ability to remain observant to machinery and equipment problems
  • Operate and use both bench and hand tools in making repairs
  • Help maintain building facilities
  • Maintain written records and reports
  • Maintain preventative maintenance of the plant, equipment, and facilities
  • Perform other duties as required

Salary Range: $47,611.20 – $101,108.80 Anticipated Hiring Range: $47,611.20 – $82,305.60

Job Summary:

Position available for qualified individuals to perform maintenance mechanic duties at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Applicants should possess skills, knowledge and abilities related to the maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, blowers, mixers and other equipment related to a wastewater treatment system, including the treatment plant and pump stations. Previous technical experience in utility and/or industrial maintenance highly recommended. Must have the ability to troubleshoot faulty mechanical and electrical systems. Computer skills required for use of Work Order System.

Salary Range: $47,611.20 – $75,712.00 Anticipated Salary Range: $47,611.20 – $61,713.60

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • NC AWWA/WEA Collections Systems Grade I Certification
Preferred Requirements:
  • Maintenance Technologist Certification
WWTP Maintenance Mechanic II:

Salary Range: $54,516.80 – $86,715.20 Anticipated Salary Range: $54,516.80 – $70,616.00

Job Requirements:
  • Over three years of experience
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • NC AWWA/WEA Collections Systems Grade II Certification
Preferred Requirements:
  • Maintenance Technologist Certification

Salary Range: $63,606.40 – $101,108.80 Anticipated Salary Range: $63,606.40 – $82,305.60

Job Requirements:
  • Over five years of experience
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Associate’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • NC AWWA/WEA Collections Systems Grade III Certification
Preferred Requirements:
  • Maintenance Technologist Certification

Anticipated Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7AM-5:30PM OR Tuesday – Friday, 7AM-5:30PM. Rotating Standby.

This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
