Job summary

Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) is seeking a Writing Tutor to support students with individualized and small-group tutoring. This approximate 20-hour-per-week, part-time wage position is limited to 1500 hours per year and has no benefits, with potential eligibility for BRCC class tuition assistance and job-related training or certifications.

• Understanding and empathetic to student challenges.
• Experience with Zoom or another video conferencing platform.

• Familiarity with EAB Navigate.
• Related experience, education or training.

• Provide one-to-one, small group, and/or classroom tutoring services of exceptional quality on a walk-in or scheduled basis.
• Integrate effective study and learning strategies, added to subject-area instruction.
• Exhibit a positive attitude toward student efforts, and provide consistent feedback to students on progress.
• Maintain accurate records of individual and group tutoring sessions.
• Protect student confidentiality, at all times.
• Provide coverage to the library circulation desk as needed.

There is potential eligibility for educational assistance for BRCC classes and job-related training and/or certifications.
