Job summary

Lafayette Group is seeking an experienced writer to provide advanced consulting support for a federal program. The role focuses on creating clear, compelling copy for cybersecurity initiatives and external communications, working with program leads and SMEs.

The ideal candidate has a strong writing background, 5+ years of experience, and US citizenship with the ability to obtain Public Trust. Hybrid in Northern VA and collaboration with federal clients are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop written copy for a client’s external affairs organization to enhance communications and outreach to SLTT entities responsible for critical infrastructure and cybersecurity
• Work with program managers and internal subject matter experts to gather research and develop written communications products on cybersecurity topics
• Articulate complex concepts to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
• Write and edit reports, website content, social media content, fact sheets, stakeholder emails, SOPs, templates, and other documentation
• Provide suggestions to improve flow, understanding, grammar/style, and clarity of written communications
• Use critical thinking skills and pose thoughtful questions to understand subject matter context
• Build strong relationships with team members and clients, especially as it relates to editing the work of others
• Follow client style guides and requirements to develop and edit written communications with a quality mindset
• Respond quickly and confidently to program manager and client requests
• Develop and maintain SOPs and a quality assurance checklist for internal stakeholders

Job Summary

Lafayette Group is seeking an experienced professional to provide advanced consulting support for a critical federal government program. Join our team of high-end strategy and management consultants and professionals who have served on the front lines of homeland security, law enforcement, criminal justice, emergency management, and the military.

Lafayette Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated graphic writer to support impactful projects for our federal clients, with a focus on providing support to groups that engage with government, industry, and general public stakeholders. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels in understanding the cybersecurity mission and making an impact with relevant stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be an adept, creative writer with a balance of strong critical thinking, writing, and communication skills. This position will involve working closely with project leads to understand program needs and produce compelling copy that clearly communicates and promotes key messages related to cybersecurity programs, services, and solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop written copy for a client’s external affairs organization to enhance communications and outreach to state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) entities responsible for critical infrastructure and cybersecurity
• Work with program managers and internal subject matter experts to gather research and develop excellent written communications products on a wide variety of cybersecurity topics
• Articulate complex concepts to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
• Write and edit reports, website content, social media content, fact sheets, stakeholder emails, communications SOPs, templates, and other documentation
• Provide suggestions to improve flow, understanding, grammar/style, and clarity of written communications
• Use critical thinking skills and pose thoughtful questions to understand subject matter context and ensure editing suggestions are useful and on-point
• Build strong relationships with team members and clients, especially as it relates to editing the work of others to achieve desired outcomes
• Follow client style guides and requirements to develop and edit written communications with a constant quality improvement mindset
• Respond quickly and confidently to program manager and client requests with little direction
• Develop and maintain SOPs and a quality assurance checklist for internal stakeholders to ensure consistent writing/editing standards

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Journalism, Communications, or Related Field.
• 5+ years of experience as a writer
• Strong interpersonal skills
• US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust

Desired Skills

• Experience working with management consulting clients or similar experience
• Prior experience with critical infrastructure and / or cybersecurity missions

Salary Range

$75K - $90K

Federal Contracts:
