Looking for a job? Look elsewhere.
Looking for a craft — at a place where your range, your ear, and your standards actually matter? Read on.
We're Laudisi — the people behind Smokingpipes.com, Peterson of Dublin, Cornell & Diehl, Caldwell Cigars, Low Country Pipe & Cigar, and a handful of other brands you've probably never heard of (but our customers are obsessed with). Each one has its own history, its own voice, and its own audience — a 160-year-old Dublin pipe factory doesn't sound like a small-batch American tobacco blender, and neither of them sounds like a cigar brand. Getting that right, across every brand, in every channel, is the job.
We're not a content mill. We're not churning out SEO filler or corporate speak. We write for enthusiasts who notice when a sentence lands wrong, who remember details, and who can tell the difference between good writing and exceptional prose.
Your role? You're the voice of our brands — the person who decides how we sound, everywhere our customers find us.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO:
Write newsletter, social, and long-form blog content across our brands — and make each one sound like itself, not like the same writer wearing different hats.
That's the standard. Fast, clean, and unmistakably ours.
You'll also:
YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF:
You're not just a writer. You're someone who thinks deeply about language, who knows the difference between clarity and cleverness, and who can explain why one sentence works better than another — then turn around and do the less glamorous work of cleaning up someone else's draft without losing what made it theirs.
You sweat the details because sloppy writing bothers you. When a sentence isn't working, it nags at you until you fix it. When your own drafts come back marked up, you don't take it personally — you see it as part of making the work better.
You're fast and good. Not one or the other. You can turn things around quickly without cutting corners, because speed and quality aren't at odds when you know what you're doing.
This role is in the building, on purpose. Our brands live here — the pipes, the tobacco, the people who make them, the conversations in the hallway that become next month's newsletter. You'll have support and a team behind you, but we need someone on-site who can pick things up fast, ask good questions of the people around them, and become the person the whole company brings its writing to. If you want to learn this industry from the inside and actually be part of a culture rather than a call on a calendar, this is the seat.
You're curious. Whether it's pipes, cigars, coffee, watches, food, spirits, or any other "deep hobby" world where the minutiae matter — you get it. You understand why people care about the details, and you respect that. If you're already one of our customers, even better: it's a lot easier to write for enthusiasts when you are one.
This is a landing pad, not a parking lot. Writers who excel here don't stay stuck; they take on bigger creative challenges, own larger projects, and shape how we communicate as a company.
YOU CAN EXPECT:
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Prior pipe and cigar knowledge isn't required — we'll teach you. A strong portfolio beats a long resume. What we're really looking for is:
THE BOTTOM LINE:
This job isn't for everyone. It's for writers who treat language like a craft, who get frustrated when content is generic or sloppy, and who want to work on brands that people actually care about.
