Job summary

Iredell Statesville Schools is seeking a certified head wrestling coach at Lake Norman High School to organize and lead the high school wrestling program. Responsibilities include coaching, staff supervision, and program development in alignment with district policies.

The ideal candidate will have prior coaching success, strong technical knowledge of wrestling, and serve as a positive role model for student athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship and academic focus.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise the entire high school wrestling program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

• Has thorough knowledge of athletic policies approved by the district and implements them.
• Implements state and league regulations consistently and interprets them for staff.
• Knows proper administrative command chain and routes requests through proper channels.
• Established the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff.
• Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by attending clinics.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates staff.
• Maintains discipline and morale among staff and students.
• Assists athletic director with scheduling, transportation, and tournament logistics.
• Coordinates programs with maintenance and school staff.
• Provides supervision of students to promote character development and academic progress.
• Ensures safety, paperwork and eligibility documentation for athletes.
