Responsibilities

• Thorough knowledge of athletic policies; implement by staff.
• Knowledge of system/state/league regulations; implement consistently and interpret for staff.
• Understands admin line of command; refer requests through proper channels; attends meetings.
• Establishes philosophy, skills, and techniques; designs conferences and staff meetings to raise awareness.
• Trains staff and encourages professional growth; attends local clinics.
• Delegates duties; supervises; analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates assistants.
• Maintains discipline; handles grievances; boosts morale and cooperation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assists scheduling, transportation and tournament logistics.
• Prepares for events and adheres to facility times; coordinates with maintenance and staff.
• Provides documentation for physicals, parental consent, eligibility.
• Ensures maintenance and protection of equipment sites.
• Advises AD and recommends policy or procedural changes.
• Mentors athletes to develop character traits: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship.
• Monitors athletes' grades and conduct.
• Provides guidance and safeguards at practices, games, and travel.
• Provides sport rules and regulations to athletes.
• Initiates injury/medical/emergency policies.
• Completes injury paperwork within 24 hours.
• Directs student managers, assistants, statisticians.
• Determines discipline and due process; communicates with parents when needed.
• Assists athletes with college/advanced education selection.
• Participates in budgeting; sets equipment requirements.
• Operates within budget.
• Handles equipment accountability and loss/recovery costs.
• Manages issuing, storage, and reconditioning; maintains inventory.
• Marks and labels equipment.
• Monitors equipment rooms; controls access.
• Restricts access to authorized areas.
• Ensures locker rooms cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
• Organizes preseason meetings with parents, coaches, players.
• Promotes the sport through school, media, and community programs.
• Ensures quality/accuracy of media releases.
• Maintains relations with media, boosters, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.
• Provides schedules, tournaments and results to media.
