Job Overview

High school Dominion, Wrestling coaching position. Season runs Winter, November - February

Roles And Responsibilities

1. Assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
2. Assist the athletic director and principal in hiring and/or retaining assistant coaches.
3. Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all assistant coaches.
4. Work with the athletic director to ensure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.
5. Collaborate with other head athletic coaches to operate a well-balanced athletic program.
6. Foster appreciation of athletics, good sportsmanship, and pride among participants and spectators.
7. Direct training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team and supervise assistant coaches.
8. Be a positive influence on the behavior of staff and teams.
9. Attend all varsity contests and supervise athletes at invitational meets or postseason competitions.
10. Advise on scheduling, official selection, equipment needs, and facility conditions.
11. Ensure athletes undergo medical examinations before practices begin.
12. Organize tryouts, develop student roles like equipment managers, scorekeepers, etc.
13. Maintain records, statistics, and media related to teams.
14. Recommend athletes for varsity letters and other recognitions.
15. Observe practices and games of sub-varsity teams.
16. Perform additional duties as assigned by principals or athletic directors.

Qualifications

1. Coaching or participation experience in high school or college sport.
2. CPR and First Aid certification or enrollment in courses.
3. Preferred: experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
4. Preferred: Virginia Teaching License or full-time classified employee status.
