Job summary

The Champaign Unit 4 Schools invites applications for Wrestling Head Coach (Differential Position) at Centennial High School for the 2026-2027 season.

Candidates must hold IHSA coaching certification or Illinois Professional Educator License, demonstrate strong coaching knowledge, and build positive relationships with student-athletes. The district follows a differential pay scale per the local agreement.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of wrestling and ability to develop student-athletes.
  • Ability to build relationships and serve as a positive role model.
  • Effective communication with students and adults.
  • Willingness to work nights, holidays, evenings and weekends.
  • Willing to travel with the team to practices/games as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coach wrestling team and develop student-athletes.
  • Plan practices and coordinate competitions.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Director and staff to support program goals.
  • Attend events including IHSA competitions and travel as scheduled.

  • Willingness and ability to work nights, holidays, evenings and weekends
  • Willing to travel with the team to different locations for practices/games, as needed
Compensation
  • This is a Differential position. The differential pay scale can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Federation of Teachers, which is available on our website. Coacheswith 5+ years of experience are compensated at a higher rate than those with more limited experience. Employment as acoachis on an at-will basis.

  • The season for this sport typically runs fromNovember-February. The exact dates are determined based on IHSA rules and the schedule for State events. More detailed questions regarding the schedule can be directed to the Athletic Director at the school.
