Job summary

DEFIFOODS GROUP INTERNATIONAL INC is seeking a dedicated Machine Operator for our Production department. You will operate an array of machines to produce first quality, food safe product, meeting wrapping parameters and visual specifications.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment per the Production Schedule, following SOPs for wrapping and quality checks, adjusting wrappers, performing roll changes, and assisting with downtime. Overtime may be required to complete production goals.

Qualifications

• Ability to add and subtract numbers and perform multiplication/division with whole numbers using standard and metric units.
• Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions and solve problems with concrete variables.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and handle equipment and materials.
• Mechanical aptitude required for operating and maintaining production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow Product SOP for correct product and wrapping material.
• Perform OCP checks and document results.
• Monitor aligners to wrapper discharge to ensure proper operation and wrap quality.
• Make wrapper adjustments to maintain consistent wrap within acceptable range.
• Perform foil/paper roll changes.
• Disassemble and clean equipment parts as needed.
• Changeovers and downtime support.
• Assist with roll changes on downstream packaging equipment.
• Follow all safety, GMP, and SOP requirements.
• Overtime may be required to finish production shift.

Machine Operator

Department: Production
Reports to: Line Lead

SUMMARY: Operates an array of machines to produce first quality, food safe product, meeting various wrapping parameters and visual specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Set up equipment in accordance with the Production Schedule.
2. Follow the Product SOP for proper product being produced and wrapped, and ensure proper wrapping material is used.
3. Perform required OCP checks and document accordingly.
4. Monitor specified points from the aligners to the wrapper discharge to ensure proper operation and quality wrap.
5. Make proper wrapper adjustments to maintain a consistent wrap in an acceptable range.
6. Perform foil/paper roll changes.

Additional Duties

• Disassemble and clean equipment parts when needed.
• Changeovers.
• Chocolate change requiring just different roll stock.
• Product change which could require a different wrapping machine.
• Assist in the changeout of machines.
• Assist in downtime occurrences.
• Assist in Metal Detector checks, if needed.
• Assist with roll changes on case taper, label printer and various Pack equipment downstream.
• Comply with all Safety policies, report safety violations, and attend team and safety meetings.
• Report problems regarding Food Safety to Line Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Follow GMPs.
• Train new employees as required.
• Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.
• Perform other related duties as requested.
• Required to work until the end of the production shift daily, overtime required when necessary.
• Follow Safety Rules.

1. Mathematical Skills
   • Ability to add and subtract three or more digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using both standard and metric weight measurements, volume and distance.

   • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving many concrete variables in standardized situations.
3. Physical Demands
   • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, handle objects, tools or controls. Reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
