Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepares items for storage or shipment using wrapping materials and secure fastening.
• Cleans, preserves, and oils items to protect from corrosion or damage as needed.
• Checks part numbers, quantities, types against packing sheets to ensure accuracy.
• Places completed items in proper containers and applies labels or tags.
• May cut and apply stencils or marks on crates, boxes, and containers.
• Maintains packing records as required.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Working from packaging and preservation specifications, verbal instructions or normal shop practices and procedures, prepares items for storage or shipment by properly applying suitable or standardized wrapping material and securely tying, binding, or otherwise fastening and/or enclosing the specific items.
• Prepares by cleaning and immersing in solvents and cleaners and preserving by applying oils, greases, waxes and other preservatives when required to protect items from corrosion or damage.
• Checks and reconciles part numbers, quantities, type, etc., with shipping tags and packing sheets to ensure correctness.
• Cushions as required, places completed items in proper container as specified.
• Apply necessary labels, tags, etc.
• May be assigned to cut and apply stencils or otherwise mark crates, boxes, cartons, and other containers.
• Maintains records as required.

Tools & Equipment Used

• A variety of wrapping, packaging, cleaning and preserving equipment, materials and work aids.

Experience & Other Requirements

• One year qualifying wrapping and packing experience.
