The role requires BSN, Ohio RN licensure, and WOC certification within 12 months. You will engage in quality improvement and contribute to patient advocacy across the care team.

Qualifications

  • BSN, required.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Wound Ostomy Certification within first 12 months of employment, required.
  • Experience in pediatric nursing or wound care.
  • Aware of evidence based standards and applicable national standards.

  • Collaborates with practitioners to identify patients in need of an individualized plan to promote skin integrity or manage wounds and ostomies.
  • Administers treatments in a manner that improves clinical outcomes and reduces risk or cost.
  • Participates in policy and procedure development, continuing education, continuous quality improvement, product selection and testing, research and/or evidenced based practice.
  • Engages in the "workplace community" by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.

The Comprehensive Wound Care Program at NCH offers children and families comprehensive care from a multi-disciplinary team of nationally recognized clinicians with expertise in chronic and non-healing wounds. This program is unique in central Ohio dedicated to pediatric patients, from infants to young adults.

Job Description Summary:

Provides nursing care, consultation and coordination of services for patients with chronic wounds, acute pressure injuries and ostomies. Fosters effective communication among health care professionals who provide nursing care to children with altered skin integrity and ostomies. Develops and implements educational programs for patients, caregivers and families, hospital staff, and community health personnel. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

Aware of evidence based standards and applicable national standards.
  • Participates in policy and procedure development, continuing education, continuous quality improvement, product selection and testing, research and/or evidenced based practice. Evaluates outcomes and makes recommendations for further improvements.
  • Engages in the "workplace community" by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.

Education Requirement:

BSN, required.

Licensure Requirement:

  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Certifications:

Wound Ostomy Certification within first 12 months of employment, required.

Experience:

Clinical skill and knowledge in the nursing care of children including normal growth and development and/or clinical expertise in specialized area, required.

Physical Requirements:

OCCASIONALLY: Blood and/or Bodily Fluids, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Electricity, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Machinery, Patient Equipment, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Reaching above shoulder

FREQUENTLY: Bend/twist, Climb stairs/ladder, Color vision, Depth perception, Driving motor vehicles (work required) *additional testing may be required, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Peripheral vision, Seeing - Far/near, Squat/kneel, Standing, Walking
