Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha seeks a WOCN nurse to deliver specialized wound and ostomy care. Requires graduation from a WOCN-accredited ET nursing program or completion within one year of hire. Ostomy certification preferred and schedule is Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri 8:30am–5:00pm.

You will assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care, collaborating with the care team to optimize patient outcomes and provide education to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (WOCN) accredited Enterostomal Therapy (ET) nursing program is required, or the ability and willingness to complete the wound portion within one year of hire.
• Candidates with ostomy care experience or ostomy certification are preferred but not required.
• Strong clinical assessment and care planning for ostomy patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate nursing care and ensure patient understanding and comfort per population-specific criteria.
• Identify patient needs and tailor individualized customer/patient care.
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments to determine nursing care needs.
• Develop, review and revise the plan of care for ostomy and wound patients.
• Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines to coordinate care.
• Deliver patient teaching specific to health care problems and discharge planning.
