Job summary

Pinewood Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated Wound Care Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our skilled nursing team. You will perform wound assessments, manage dressings, and collaborate with physicians to coordinate care for residents.

The ideal candidate holds an active RN or LPN license, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff. Experience in wound care or long-term care is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
  • Previous experience in wound care, long-term care, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and professional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments to evaluate size, depth, condition, and infection risk.
  • Monitor wound progress, document changes, and update care plans accordingly.
  • Identify and manage complications such as infection, hemorrhage, or dehiscence.
  • Select and apply appropriate wound dressings and therapies, including wound debridement, cleansing, irrigation, and packing.
  • Manage patient pain and discomfort related to wounds.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound care techniques and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Identify factors contributing to wound formation, such as pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and burns, and implement preventive strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and stay current on wound care advancements and research.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to enhance nursing skills.
