The RN assists in responsibility for total resident care for the assigned wing or wings of residents following established facility policy and procedures, federal and state regulations, and nursing standards of practice.

Duties:

1. Perform nursing tasks to meet resident needs, including skin assessments, wound treatments, and wound prevention.
2. Assess all new admissions on arrival to the facility.
3. Evaluate resident needs, condition, and care; administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
4. Order and receive medications from the pharmacy.
5. Evaluate for side effects of medications and report to appropriate personnel.
6. Admit and discharge residents.
7. Oversee CNA staff.
8. Ensure wound care policy and procedures are followed.
9. Complete charting as required.
10. Ensure resident care plans are followed.
11. Conduct assessments of residents with condition changes and report to charge nurse/supervisor.
12. Transcribe and execute physician orders.
13. Complete documentation as required.
14. Provide excellent customer service and communication to residents, families, visitors, MDs, and coworkers.

Qualifications:

• RN licensure with the TN Board of Nursing.
• Current CPR certification with American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Wound care certification and 1 year experience with wound care/treatments.
• Previous experience in medical, surgical, or geriatric nursing is preferred.
• Desire to work with the elderly.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
