Job summary

Friendship Baptist Church is seeking an interim worship leader to oversee and lead our music ministry, exalting Christ through planning, coordinating, and leading congregational worship. The role includes operating sound, livestream, and lighting systems, and you will lead worship for midweek and Sunday services.

The position requires spiritual maturity, a heart for gospel-centered ministry, and ability to collaborate with volunteers and staff.

Qualifications

• Heart transformed by the grace and gospel of Jesus Christ.
• Agreement with and commitment to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Spiritual maturity and integrity reflecting Christ in life and ministry.
• Proficiency in at least one musical instrument (keyboard or guitar).
• Ability to manage scheduling, rehearsals, and Sunday service preparation.
• Clear and respectful communication with volunteers, staff, and ministry leaders.
• Willingness to collaborate with others for the worship team.
• Willingness to become a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Responsibilities

• Learn and operate sound, livestream, and lighting systems.
• Troubleshoot worship and tech issues as they arise.
• Lead worship with humility, authenticity, and spiritual maturity.
• Lead worship for all regular services (Wednesdays 6:00–7:00 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.).
• Schedule, lead and attend weekly practices (Wednesdays after service or Sundays 9:00–9:40).
• Attend scheduled staff and church member meetings.
• Create and manage an annual music ministry budget; track expenses and ensure financial stewardship.

Overview

Reports To: Senior Pastor. Position Status: Part-time. Friendship Baptist Church is seeking an interim and or worship leader to oversee and lead our music ministry with the goal of exalting Christ. This individual will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading congregational worship.

Qualifications

• A heart transformed by the grace and gospel of Jesus Christ with an ongoing and personal relationship with Christ.
• Agreement with and commitment to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Spiritual maturity, integrity, and a lifestyle that reflects Christ both inside and outside the church, striving to model Christlike character as described in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, and Galatians 5:22–23.
• Proficiency in at least one musical instrument, either keyboard or guitar.
• Ability to manage details related to scheduling, rehearsals, and Sunday service preparation.
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with volunteers, staff, and ministry leaders.
• A positive and constructive approach when working with team members.
• Willingness to incorporate and utilize others for the worship team.
• Willingness to become a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
• Residence within a reasonable proximity to the church (within one hour).

Duties/Responsibilities

• Willingness and ability to learn how to operate the sound, livestream, and lighting systems.
• Help troubleshoot worship- and technology-related issues as they arise.
• Lead worship with humility, authenticity, and spiritual maturity.
• Lead worship for all regular services (Wednesdays, 6:00–7:00 p.m., and Sundays, 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.).
• Schedule, lead and attend weekly practice either on Wednesdays after service or Sundays 9:00am-9:40 (so members can attend bible study).
• Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings, and church member meetings.
• Create and manage an annual music ministry budget; track expenses and ensure financial stewardship.

Additional Preferences

• Competent vocalist.
• Competency with ProPresenter, Planning Center, Canva, sound systems, and social media platforms.

Compensation

Salary is $15,600 a year ($1,300 monthly) commensurate with experience.

Must be willing to undergo a mandatory background investigation.
