Job summary

New Hope Baptist Church is seeking a Worship Director to lead the worship team, plan Sunday morning contemporary worship, and cultivate a Christ-centered worship experience.

This role collaborates with the Pastor, manages A/V and budget, recruits volunteers, coordinates special services, and may include a full-time option combining with another ministry area.

Qualifications

• Committed to faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord.

• Committed to adhering to church procedures, policies and training.
• College degree in related field or proven experience as a Worship Director/Leader.
• Skilled vocalist capable of leading while playing an instrument.
• Organized with experience using church management software for scheduling and service planning.
• Proficient in utilizing media, software, web-based applications, and A/V tech supporting modern worship ministry.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a positive, adaptable attitude.
• Proactive and resourceful when resolving live technical or logistics issues.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Pastor to plan and lead Sunday morning contemporary worship for our multi-generational congregation.
• Lead congregational worship with a strong, engaging presence.
• Ensure the order of service, lyrics, slides are prepared in advance to create a seamless worship experience.
• Work with the A/V team to ensure sound equipment and live-stream capabilities are prepared for each service.
• Manage music-related resources, such as CCLI and ProPresenter.
• Recommend potential A/V upgrades or technical improvements to Sunday morning worship experience.
• Manage the Worship Ministry Budget.
• Recruit, train, and rehearse with musicians, vocalists, and A/V volunteers.
• Schedule and lead regular mid-week rehearsals.
• Plan and lead music for special services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Prayer Night).
• Assist with wedding and funeral music planning as directed by the Pastor.
• Coordinate soloists, ensembles, or seasonal programs for special events.
• If qualified, plan, rehearse and lead periodic hymn sing events to honor the church’s traditional choral roots.
• Actively participate in the life of the church, including attendance at major events such as homecomings, and business meetings.
• Demonstrate a commitment to worship ministry through prayer for the congregation and a spirit of collaborative, servant-hearted leadership.

The Worship Director is responsible for organizing and equipping the Worship Team, cultivating a Christ-Centered worship experience on Sunday mornings, and leading the congregation in worship through song.

Responsibilities

Position Details and Compensation

• Part Time: 8-16 hours per week.
• Competitive compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and agreed-upon responsibilities.
• Full Time Option: A full-time ministerial position is available for a candidate eager to combine the Worship Director role with another ministry area matching their gifts and church needs (e.g., Community Missions/Outreach, Discipleship).
