Job summary

Covenant Presbyterian Church in Augusta, GA seeks a Director of Music & Organist to plan, administer, and supervise the church's music ministry. This 20–30 hour/week role negotiates hours and responsibilities and may consider creative alternatives for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include directing the adult choir, managing handbells, coordinating youth music, and maintaining the music budget and library.

Qualifications

• Professional-level church musician
• Ability to lead adult, youth and children's vocal/instrumental music
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience with handbell choirs is preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary musician for Sunday worship services, funerals, weddings and special services with well-rehearsed music
• Provide choral and/or instrumental music for worship, including seasonal services
• Direct and accompany the adult choir, coordinating rehearsals and performances
• Direct and manage handbell choir(s)
• Support and lead youth music offerings and develop youth programs
• Recruit members for music programs and manage the budget for music supplies
• Maintain the organ, carillon, pianos and handbells; manage copyright licenses
