Job summary

HP Inc. seeks a Worldwide Technical Regulation Compliance Engineer to ensure products meet global regulatory, safety, environmental, cybersecurity, and market access requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

You will collaborate with product teams, suppliers, labs, and regulatory experts worldwide to enable compliant product launches and drive certification strategies across programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Typically 4-6 years of experience in product engineering or regulatory compliance, or a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of one or more regulatory compliance disciplines (Safety, EMC, Wireless/Telecom, Energy Efficiency, Cybersecurity).
  • Experience managing technical projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure HP products comply with global regulatory requirements (Safety, EMC, Wireless/Telecom, Energy Efficiency, Cybersecurity).
  • Partner with product teams early to identify regulatory requirements and risks.
  • Manage compliance activities across multiple product development programs.
  • Develop and execute certification strategies to support launches.
  • Coordinate regulatory testing with ODMs, OEMs and labs.
  • Review and approve regulatory docs, test reports, and declarations.
  • Prepare Declarations of Conformity and other compliance docs.
  • Collaborate across engineering, legal, sourcing, and regulatory teams to solve issues.
  • Communicate certification status and risk mitigation plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and tools.

Worldwide Technical Regulation Compliance Engineer

Description -

As a Worldwide Technical Regulations (WTR) Compliance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring HP products meet global regulatory, safety, environmental, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and market access requirements.

Working as part of the WTR , you will collaborate with product development teams, manufacturing partners, certification laboratories, and regulatory experts worldwide to enable compliant and successful product launches. You will help drive compliance strategies throughout the product development lifecycle while balancing technical, business, and schedule objectives.

This role provides the opportunity to influence products sold globally and work with experts across engineering, cybersecurity, sustainability, and regulatory compliance disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure HP products comply with applicable global regulatory and technical requirements, including Safety, EMC, Wireless/Telecom, Energy Efficiency and Cybersecurity regulations.

  • Partner with product development teams early in the design cycle to identify regulatory requirements and compliance risks.

  • Manage compliance activities for multiple product development programs from concept through commercialization.

  • Develop and execute certification strategies that support product launch schedules and worldwide market access objectives.

  • Coordinate and oversee regulatory compliance testing performed by ODM/OEM partners and accredited third-party laboratories.

  • Review and approve regulatory documentation, including test reports, technical files, certifications, declarations, and supporting evidence.

  • Prepare and maintain Declarations of Conformity and other compliance documentation required for global product distribution.

  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, legal, sourcing, supply chain, and worldwide regulatory teams to resolve compliance issues and drive timely approvals.

  • Communicate certification status, compliance risks, and mitigation plans to project teams and management.

  • Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes, tools, automation, and operational efficiency.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.

  • Typically 4-6 years of experience in product engineering or regulatory compliance, or a related technical field.

  • Knowledge of one or more regulatory compliance disciplines, including:

  • Product Safety

  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

  • Wireless/Telecommunications Regulations

  • Energy Efficiency

  • Product Cybersecurity

  • Experience managing technical projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience working with suppliers, manufacturing partners, certification agencies, and testing laboratories.

  • Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across global teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced product development environment.

  • Project or program management experience is a plus.

  • Experience with PCs, workstations, peripherals, consumer electronics, networking, IoT, or related technology products.

  • Familiarity with global certification and regulatory frameworks such as CE, FCC, ICES, UKCA, VCCI, BSMI, KC, NCC, TELEC, SRRC, ICASA, BIS, and other international market-access requirements.

  • Understanding of product development processes and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.

Salary

The pay range for this role is $83,000 to $127,800 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
