Job summary

Colorado College invites applications for a Maytag Visiting Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature for one year starting August 2027, with possible renewal. PhD required; native or near-native English with another language preferred.

The appointee will teach six courses, including World Literature and literary theory, and engage in active undergraduate mentorship. The program emphasizes cross-department collaboration, the Block Plan teaching model, and a strong undergraduate teaching

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, World Literature, or a related field.
• Native or near-native proficiency in English and at least one other language.
• Strong undergraduate teaching potential and an active research agenda.
• Ability to develop courses in World Literature and literary theory.

Responsibilities

• Teach a six-course load including World Literature and literary theory.
• Develop introductory and advanced courses in areas of expertise.
• Provide undergraduate mentorship and collaborate with other departments.
• Contribute to program initiatives and ongoing research collaborations.
