Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an Electro-Hydraulic Technician in Houston, TX. This contract role focuses on assembling, testing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems under supervision.

Ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical background, electrical/hydraulic knowledge, and familiarity with SAP or similar manufacturing systems. On-site work with scope for safety and quality adherence.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical, vocational, military, or trade school training.
  • Coursework in electrical wiring, electronics, hydraulics, or industrial technology.
  • Exposure to hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with SAP or other manufacturing and asset management systems is a plus.
  • Experience operating hydraulic power units, overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on assigned projects and tasks.
  • Review work instructions, procedures, and drawings to ensure proper execution of assigned work.
  • Collect, record, and maintain quality records and test documentation accurately and completely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with equipment setup and preparation for testing activities.
  • Support maintenance and calibration activities for electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic test equipment.
  • Construct or fabricate test fixtures as required.
  • Perform inspections, refurbishments, and operational checks on equipment and components.
  • Assist with FAT, EFAT, and SIT as required.
  • Develop troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment issues.
  • Learn to interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentation to support testing and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare equipment for shipment and utilize approved material‑handling equipment as required.

Electro-Hydraulic Technician

Hourly Rate Starting At:$19.00per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Location: Houston, Texas 77044 (On Site)

Duration: 6 Month Contract

Position Summary

This provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to develop hands‑on technical skills and build a career within a dynamic engineering and manufacturing environment. The Electro‑Hydraulic Technician will assist with the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment while gaining practical experience under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers.

Level of Responsibility

Works under direct supervision and follows detailed written and verbal instructions, established procedures, and standard work practices to perform routine technical tasks and assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Learn and follow established safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on assigned projects and tasks.
  • Review work instructions, procedures, and drawings to ensure proper execution of assigned work.
  • Collect, record, and maintain quality records and test documentation accurately and completely.

  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Extended Factory Acceptance Tests (EFAT), and System Integration Tests (SIT) as required.
  • Develop troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment issues.
  • Learn to interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentation to support testing and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare equipment for shipment and utilize approved material‑handling equipment as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Mechanical Aptitude

Candidates must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude through previous experience, hobbies, technical coursework, vocational training, military experience, temporary assignments, or hands‑on projects such as:

  • Automotive repair or maintenance
  • Woodworking
  • Construction
  • Electrical projects
  • Equipment assembly or repair

Networking Fundamentals

Candidates should have a foundational understanding of:

  • OSI (TCP/IP) model and its layers
  • Networking devices including switches, routers, hubs, and modems
  • IP addresses and MAC addresses
  • LAN and WAN concepts
  • DHCP functionality
  • IP addressing and basic subnetting

Electrical Fundamentals

Candidates should have a foundational understanding of:

  • Current
  • Voltage
  • Resistance
  • Conductance
  • Insulation

Candidates should also be able to explain:

  • Resistance calculations in series and parallel circuits
  • Current flow through series and parallel circuits
  • The purpose and operation of an ohmmeter
  • Wire crosstalk and its causes
  • The relationship between wire size and resistance

Technical Drawings and Schematics

Candidates should have basic knowledge of:

  • Electrical, electronic, or hydraulic schematics
  • Schematic symbols and legends
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with iPad operation and usage.
  • Ability to learn and utilize company software and documentation systems.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Use measuring instruments, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Identify tools, fixtures, and equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Follow all safety standards and quality requirements.

  • Occasional travel may be required based on business needs.
  • Extended work hours may be necessary during peak operational periods.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of standing during assembly and testing activities.
  • Frequent use of computers and workstations.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, walk, and climb as required.
  • Ability to safely handle tools, equipment, and components in a workshop environment.
